Hi!
I'm having quite a bad time with my Gigabyte Mainboard 586DX, equipped
with 2xP166MMX. I'm not able to get it working correctly with the newer
kernels, the last one that worked flawlessly was 2.2.1 (but only with
the "noapic" setting for the kernel).
All other kernels up to 2.2.7 (last try) seemed to ignore the noapic
keyword and tried to activate IOAPIC - but then the SCSI-Controler
(AHA2940) did not initialize correctly and went into an endless
reset-loop.
Now I gave 2.2.10 a try - and it workes. Well, sort of. I still use
the noapic setting (wich is acepted now), but as soon as I load one of
my two ISA-Card drivers (Soundblaster 64AWE and a simple SCSI-card using
the g_NCR5380 driver) and try to access the device, the kernel freezes
immideately - no messages at all (logging to console 10).
In case of the SB-driver (I'm using alsa 0.3.2) I am able to load the
driver (modprobe snd-sb16 or snd-sbawe). Only when I try to actually
play some sound, it crashes.
System is SuSE 6.1
Any ideas what I could try (except from not using sound and my scanner
which is connected to the SCSI-card)?
Attached is some info on my system (bootmessage, entries in /proc):
(Sorry, a bit long, but I don't know what really is important)
Peter
