sorry if this has been discussed before, but I'm a recent
subscriber....
I've got the opportunity to use a Dell Poweredge 6350 at work (quad
450 PIII w/2G ram). I've been trying to boot off both a Redhat 6.0
and a Slackware 4.0 cd with no luck.
I'd prefer to stick with RH6, but must be missing something. it looks
like the aic7360/80 scsi controllers should be supported, but when the
system boots, no scsi devices are recognized by the linux kernel.
When booting, the cdrom and hard are recognized by the bios, and i do
get to the boot prompt for the redhat loader. it just ends up
panicking because shortly after it can't find any scsi devices.
I'm certainly interested in hearing any success/horror stories anyone
has with one of the machines. I scanned the june/may smp archives but
didn't see a whole lot.
