not really. unless it is fixed in 2.2.11 pre whatever or
2.3.something.. otherwise there is a patch floating around that
can change the mouse from an IO-APIC to an XT-PIC for SMP
machines or you can use the noapic with lilo

that is what I have as well I have a TYAN MB too..hmm

I have never run setiathome or seti or whatever it is. Yes I hve
heard of it but don't know what it does. Could you tell me more
about that and what it does (send this to me directly as this is
smp unrelated I admit it here I am ignorant in this area so
please don't flame me on it)

that is what usually works..
I did do some testing last night with some prink's.. I was
working on the console, because could not get my printk's to be
logged and I found that:
1) the mouse button clicks trigger the do_gettimeofday function,
however mouse moves do not on the console at least. (how do I
get these printk's logged under X?)
2) gettimeofday on my machine returned forward time leaps of 1
second to 110 seconds, but the do_gettimeofday seems to
compensate for this, and it did not throw off the time (correct
behavior)
3) when xfs starts it makes numerous calls to do_gettimeofday
and so does X (along with several other programs and places)
4) certain keys on my keyboard also triggered the
do_gettimeofday, but not all.
If the keyboard and mouse exhibit the same behavior on the
console that they do in X and it is a time warp related issue
then maybe by haveing the mouse moves and keyboard keystrokes
call the do_gettimeofday funtion also would fix this? but
somehow I am not sure about this.. this is beginning to sound
like some weird space time continuium thing.
