Hi, there is a memory allocator optimized for multiple threads available at: ftp://ftp.dent.med.uni-muenchen.de/pub/wmglo/ptmalloc.tar.gz It forms part of glibc, but with the source you have the option of hacking the maximum region size to more than 1 M per thread.
