This problem occurs with other 2.3 SMP kernels as well. The
NFS problem is related to your network problems (obviously)
so that one doesn't have to be fixed separately.

I have the same problem as well and I think it might be
related to missing a card interrupt when the system's
too busy. There are people working on a patch, it mainly
needs testing...
