Hi,
I just installed SuSE 6.2 on a dual celeron box (366 overclocked to
550 each) however when I recompiled the kernel (2.2.10) for smp support,
my modem started giving problems. Below is the error message I get when
I try to dial my local ISP.

>pppd 2.3.8 started by root, uid 0
>ioctl (PPPIOCGUNIT): Operation not permitted(1)
>tcsetattr: Operation not permitted
>exit

It worked fine when the kernel wasn't supporting smp. The modem is a
US Robotics Sportster 33.6 external. Has anyone on this list ever come
across this before ?

Thanks for any advice/info,
cathal
