I have some similar problems ... the box froze ..
- syreq do not work
- about 10 times in the last months (kernel \pm 2.3.1x and 2.2.[0,1]x)
( -> 3 times I could see (no screensaver on) that the IRQ light for the
SCSI card was on (xosview). )
- I suppose that this only happened when the bttv driver was loaded ...
But I am not sure !!! .. (vbidecode (videotext) was also running ...
so there was a permanent (low) HD IO)
- the system was not very heavy in use ...
