if it was memory contention, i would find it odd that the newer m/b would be
slower with an identical setup though. what's your "cpuinfo" show????? does
the bios have an os-type setting, or is there an included cd with setup
utilities???

that could very well be.  it may also be simple memory contention.  my
quad box takes 32 hours to process four simultaneous setiathome blocks
but 26 hours to do one.  i don't know why this got so much worse since
the new mobo is supposedly better.
