lockmeter

I need to do some timing on Linux spinlock. I used a 2.3.18 kernel and a
2.3.18 lockmeter patch. But I only succeed once in start lockstat by using
"lockstat on", all the other dozens of tries made my system frozen. Does
anybody has similar experience?

My hardware is a 4 cpu 200MHz pentiumpro box. It runs well in normal
cases.
