Ok, I read the faq. I am going to install Seti@home to see if it locks
up my machine....what am I running?

ABIT-BP6 dual celeron
400mhz & 400 mhz ...Overclocked? NO
5gb seagate or wd caviar UDMA/33(not sure who made it, haven't looked in
a while)
128MB generic ram
Viper 330 (Riva128 AGP)
Mitsumi Floppy
48X Panasonic (??its been a while) CDROM drive
3com 3c905 combo (or some-such...too many 3coms with the same damn name)
- cable side
Linksys 10/100 Fast Ethernet (LAN)
Super Micro case (cost way too much, but I liked it better than any
other case I have ever owned...it has two fans in the case, one at the
front and one in the rear for good circulation...no, its not the power
supply, that's a separate fan. Also has side access on both sides...its
nice...very nice....even has a place to put 2 celeron stickers!)
Total > $700.....

Harddrive, keyboard, mouse, and monitor....already had 'em.

How many times has it crashed? None, if you don't count my flaky
Xwindows configurator/xf86config problems. Its solid.

I do notice when I am playing Half-Life on the internet through my
firewall (the Linux machine running IP_Masquerade) that every once in a
while my NIC card gets bonked off the network and I have to reboot.
Don't think this is related to the board what-so-ever. Most likely
cause is the weird ICMP failures I receive right B4 the crash or it may
be that it happens when pump runs at 4:00am or so....but its hard to
tell when I am on the client end. The machine itself does not lock up,
I just have no network connectivity to the outside world....so....

What BIOS am I running? Not sure, I think its stock. Didn't upgrade
when I read about problems with the newer version.

Will install networking and server block devices for crash dump info....

Also, my board has the colorful standard for ports (so its not that
old... < a year).

Maybe there's some common manufacturing problems. I noticed a similar
problem when I had an Abit BX6-R2 that stopped powering on. I broke the
battery, so the store that I bought it from said I couldn't use the
warranty...those crooks made me buy another board (newer model). Later,
it turns out, there was a defect in a batch of the first
BX6rev2's....ugh! Never will I pull a battery again to try and fix a
machine that isn't at work. That has been fine ever since, OC'd to
374mhz from 350 (tried 450, but it didn't last more than two weeks
before windoze started to freak all the time). Se la vie!

PS-->Thinking of upgrading to 256MB of memory....the prices are down
again!!! (MWAVE.com has 128mb dimms for about $122 ea).

Finally, what do I run? Like I would tell u, hax0rs!
Actually, I run a webserver, ftp server, firewall using IP_MASQ,
xwindows, and a myriad of other things (half-life for linux dedicated
server occasionally).
The one thing that seems to suck my system resources down when I have
x-windows running is tar. I think it tries to steal as much processing
power as it can.....
I did notice when my roommate's friend was over that after he hooked up
his desktop (yeah, your tellin' me), and started downloading a gazillion
things at once (since he only has a dial-up @ home) with over 100
connections in ipchains -ML, xwindows seemed to freak out and buttons
started to not work, things disappeared....so I killed the firewall
(DENY DENY DENY)...

And rebooted...and scolded him for being greedy....while I was trying to
compile a new kernel!!! The nerve of users!!!

Good Luck.
