Which version of linux are you using.

I use Redhat 6.0 with the 2.2.5smp kernel, and have no problem accessing all
the ram (768mb).  I know in older versions of linux (like redhat 5.2) you
need to add a line to lilo.conf like:
        append="mem=128m"

Also where you add this line is important. Other users have found that it
works best to put it just before the image line. So...

        append="mem=128m"
        image=/boot/vmlinuz

After this addition, execute the lilo command then reboot. Good luck
