Hi,

I have a network problem in my smp box that is very frustrating for me.
I hope somebody can help.

My smp box is running RedHat 6.1:

[root@hal log]# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.2.12-20smp ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version
egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)) #1 SMP Mon Sep 27
10:34:45 EDT 1999

A Gigabyte GA-6BXDU motherboard (SCSI controller onboard) with
2xPentium III 550MHz.
I have too a 3Com 3c905C Tornado network PCI card.

[root@hal log]# cat /proc/modules
3c59x 19176 1 (autoclean)
es1371 26880 0
soundcore 2756 4 [es1371]
aic7xxx 112304 6

In /var/log/Messages apears this:

Mar 21 12:53:14 hal kernel: 3c59x.c:v0.99H 11/17/98 Donald Becker
http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html
Mar 21 12:53:14 hal kernel: eth0: 3Com 3c905C Tornado at 0xd800,
***INVALID CHECKSUM 002f*** 00:50:da:ce:e7:f9, IRQ 18
Mar 21 12:53:14 hal kernel: 8K byte-wide RAM 5:3 Rx:Tx split,
autoselect/Autonegotiate interface.

My problem is that when the box boots usually i have not network
conexion. All pings are lost except
for the lookback interface (of course ;) ).

I only can get conexions again with a secuence (in no particular order)
like that:

# /sbin/modprobe eth0
#/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart

sometimes it works sometimes not. I'm very puzzle with it. I've change
the network cable and is the same.
If i get the network up it works fine but only if it starts working.
Is this a nosense ? Is this a problem with interrupts an SMP ? A problem
with modules ? I had problems with a
PS/2 mouse, is this a problem with network ? Any Idea ?

Thanks a lot for your time.
