The BIOS is new. It is the to-be-released version from Soyo. They said it
had been extensively tested on PIII, so I suppose it works with PIII. I
disabled all the PM related options and all the other potential problematic
options as stated in the smp FAQ. I only have one processor BTW. It still
locks up, sometimes when I was typing. It doesn't seem to be a PM related
problem. I also replace the old 250W PS with a 300W PS and it doesn't help.
I checked the voltages and they seem to be normal. And the system actually
doesn't seem to lock up when heavily loaded. I don't know if it is still
possible to be a PS problem. One bad thing is that Soyo told me that thr AGP
slot, on-board SCSI(AIC-7880) and the 4th PCI slot is hard-wired so there's
no way to give different irq's to them. But when I use PII 350, it just
works fine. And if it's irq sharing problem, it shouldn't be PIII specific.
But after I shuffled the cards, the system does seem to run a little more
stable than before. Now it may work for a few hours before freezing. It
still freezes all the time however. I'm completely without a clue now.
