You probably want to have at least a Pentium 100
with 64MB RAM and a nice and shiny IDE disk.

I'm handling quite a bit more than that on a
smaller machine without any problem...

(about 80k hits on http, up to a few dozen ftp simultaneous
ftp users, 50 mailing lists and a few more small things)
