Creative have even set up a Linux development page at http://developer.soundblaster.com/linux/ and made a mailinglist for Linux related Creative news, subscription information is at the webpage. Have anyone tried the driver yet? The Live! value I got with my new Linux PC at work was promptly swapped with an AWE64 in a windozzzz machine so I cannot test it myself at the moment. I'm especially interested in the optical Toslink in/out on the non Value version of the card. As soon as that's working I'm buying such a card for my home, so I can finally get all my music as MP3's on a harddrive, so i can listen to whatever I want, in whatever order I want it to appear, and completely forget about handling small boxes or round things whenever I want to hear music. I already have an optical Toslink fibre running from the digital output of a Pioneer CDROM drive to a HiFi grade DAC that's connected to a normal stereo system. I want a fibre from the Linux box to the DAC by the amp so I can place them wherever I want and listen to MP3 and ra in top quality, and I want a fibre running the other way (the DAC unit does also include an ADC) so I can record audio from the turntable, cassette player or radio as MP3's without loosing any quality. -------------------------------------------------------------- The Linux Resource Exchange http://www.linuxrx.com Kristian Elof Soerensen [EMAIL PROTECTED] (+45) 45 93 92 02
