I contacted the author of irda. These problems have been fixed in a later version
of the kernel. I think that if you were to download the latest 2.2 kernel (2.2.16
or 2.2.17) and build your kernel from that source then this problem would go away.
I also put an LiS-2.9beta5 on our ftp site. It should help with this somewhat, but
may not solve all the problems.
