Unfortunately, the kernel seems to be built with so many debug options that full boot messages cannot be obtained from adb because they do not fit in the buffer. The WiFi chip is shown on some photo - RDA5990P (sdio). Support for this does not seem particularly awesome. On older A13 tablets I use OTG for networking with 3.4 kernel but not sure this works on mainline or anything you can boot on a23.
