NAND is the hardware, which is supported by BROM. Which means that it
should be usable in a generic way by the universal device independent
u-boot binary.
Nice
NAND is a perfect place to store the device specific
information. So that the user can avoid the annoying device type
selection choices.
I expect that many non-technical users that bought a simple white label
Android tablet at their local brick-and-mortar toy store, like to keep
Android that was shipped with their devices in NAND.
But do might want to play with Linux installed on SD card.
If DRAM, SD-card and NAND can be detected properly, what about just:
1) boot from SD card
2) let u-boot load Android's script.bin from NAND
3) boot the Linux kernel from SD card. (via sunxi-babelfish to translate
script.bin on-the-fly if using mainline Linux)
