So I take it from that that you don't think this is a good reason? The way I see it, this looks like a big and ugly mistake we're not even trying to fix. So sticking with it doesn't seem to be appropriate IMO. I'll make sure that all the wiki pages are updated according to the changes, so that nobody has to suffer from it (that is, except for a few build scripts that have the targets hardcoded). > 3) I would prefer for you to focuc your time on moving more (all?) > sunxi boards in u-boot to device model, the merge window has just > opened and it would be nice if we can get that done for the next > u-boot cycle. Well, what's great with free software is that I can actually do whatever I want with my development time, I don't owe it to anybody to do anything. As most of us, I'm doing this on my free time and so I work on what I'm interested in. Of course, I agree about moving to device model and I will most certainly work on improving the situation on that side as soon as I have the time for it. But I also like to fix things that annoy me in the software I use and boy oh boy does this annoy me. This kind of lack of consistency is what gives an overall impression of untidiness and lack of seriousness and it bothers me a lot (this is of course just an impression, the technical side matches high quality standards IMO). -- Paul Kocialkowski, Replicant developer Replicant is a fully free Android distribution running on several devices, a free software mobile operating system putting the emphasis on freedom and privacy/security.
