That is likely because the lcd-controller (the one inside the
lcd) is not getting powered, so the entire lcd is in its
default transparent state, showing you the backlight.
This is caused (I think) by your axp22x errors, because the
lcd controller is powered by the dcdc1_sw output.
So I would focus on the axp22x errors for starters. Since
your seeing them on both your boards, this may be a case
of the compiler miscompiling the code somehow ?
If you give me a defconfig I can do a build and send
you a binary to test ...
