FWIW, the "r8188eu" staging module in mainline doesn't work well for me
(in an OrangePi-mini rather than a Mele M3). I haven't yet tried the
"out-of-tree" driver, but at least the "mainline" one doesn't want to
associate with my home AP (the WPA authentication always fails with
a "bad password" or some such error).
