Well, this means that you have that bogus version 2.96, which wasn't
intended for prime-time release (RedHat's mistake), and also means that
you should consider upgrading.
However, in the interim, you can circumvent your problem by using the -lm
command line flag, which explicitly tells gcc to link to the math library.
