I have a bunch of ditto 2Gig's that I want to use with redhat 5.0 and tried
to use the existing 2.x
which came with the kernel and it kept saying that my tapes are write
protected.  I am assuming
that the problem is that I get a message in the log saying that I have a new
brand....I am assuming
this make/model is known to version 3.x or 4.x

I've read the install procedures and have two basic questions:

1. It doesn't directly say this but can I assume that I should not have a
static kernal and
turn on loadable modules?

2. Assuming that I install version 3.x or 4.x, does anyone know if I should
recompile my
kernel without the ftape support (2.x)?

The kernel I am using is 2.0.31 with some patches for tcp/ip
problems........

Thanks in advance!
