Yes, what you describe is entirely possible (maybe the the tape
will work with 1000 Kbps as well, but your controller won't
suppy that data rate. If you have lots of money, you might be
interested into a SCSI tape drive (which won't need ftape
either), if you want to make this tape drive work, you'll need
an accellerator card.
