Hi -
A few days before I tried to send two mails to the list and to the
senders personally - but they seem to got lost ; maybe it is the fault
of our university - they have difficulties with their LAN...
I remember you are the one with parallel port ditto and redhat 5.1.
If I am mistaken forget the following.
Well, please try the following:
insmod -V
should state a modutils version of >= 2.1.85, because 2.0.0 doesn't work.
then load the modules manually:
insmod ftape ft_fdc_driver=bpck-fdc,none,none,none
insmod zftape
insmod bpck-fdc ft_fdc_base=0x378 ft_fdc_irq=7
I myself got 'device not configured" after having upgraded to Redhat 5.1.
But I solved the problem by explicitly stating the values of base and irq.
The values I just proposed assume your drive is connected to your first
parallelport. If it were connected to the second one you would have to
take 0x278 and 5.
Ok,
have a try,
and now I am interested in the fate of THIS message.
(ok I must admit the admins of our university have major problems with
their LAN.:-/ )
By the way, my email is:

aeh, you do not need ftape-internal, but this is certainly not the
reason for your problems.

iyou don't need this either, but it causes no problem.

Only slot 0 will work at all, that is only /dev/qft0 and /dev/nqft0, not
qft1 and so on (hardware limitation of ditto, not ftape's fault.
