Always look what your technical manual says. Mine (Ditto 3200
--- a QIC tape drive) told me to use Isopropanol (an alcohol
which won't damage the plastic) and cotton swabs. It also
told me to clean the heads *only* in an up'n'down motion (i.e.
perpendicular to the tape motion) --- doing it otherwise could
damage the head, they stated.
So check the manual.
