Firstly, get the latest snapshot from the ftape website:
(4.x-1999_02_07.tar.gz I believe is the latest?)

Regarding the DMPro, you *MUST* use some form of pnp enabler (eg isapnp) to
enable the Ditto Dash DX card before attempting to access the drive. you
also must use exactly the same io, irq and dma in the MCONFIG file, as you
did in the isapnp.conf file when you recompile ftape.

Next, once ftape is recompiled, go into the <ftaperoot>/modules folder, edit
the insert file to refer to useful and meaningful values, and then run:

. insert    (note the period followed by a space).

This should preload the modules (check /var/log/messages for errors)

Once the modules are installed, simply try accessing the /dev/[n]qft0 using
mt or ftmt.

If you still have problems, I can mail you examples of the MCONFIG,
isapnp.conf and insert file that work, so that you can pick apart the
relations between the arguments given.
