I've bumped the kernel up to 2.2.2, and installed the Feb., 26 release
of ftape.

I have the tools-1.07 installed, and the ftformat won't go. It reports
an 'Unknown format API version.' and gives up!

I've tried some unstable releases of tools, but they don't have proper
configure scripts, and, if present, mkautofiles reports some missing
parts, and it will not make.

The 11_28 tools release does not have a mkautofiles, or makefile, so I
can't seem do anything with it...

The 03_05 release mkautofiles does this...

> [root@localhost ftape-tools-1999_03_05]# ./mkautofiles
> aclocal: configure.in: 163: macro `AM_GNU_GETTEXT' not found in library
> ./mkautofiles: gettextize: command not found
> configure.in:134: warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without default to allow cross compiling
> configure.in:134: warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without default to allow cross compiling
> autoconf: Undefined macros:
> configure.in:140:AC_FUNC_STRPTIME
> configure.in:152:AC_ECHON
> configure.in:153:AC_PASSWD
> configure.in:155:AC_FIND_PROGRAM(SENDMAIL,sendmail,/usr/lib:/usr/sbin:/usr/ucblib)
> configure.in:90:AC_SET_PREFIX
> configure.in: 163: required file `./ABOUT-NLS' not found
> Makefile.am:320: required directory ./intl does not exist
> Makefile.am:320: required directory ./intl does not exist

Thanks,
