Hi Barry,
Actually, you should have received a second message directly to you
about this. Hmmm...
Anyway, to recap:
I love the Aiwa and Tecmar NS-8 drives. Both are < $300, store 4/8GB
and work out of the box with Linux. You can get either a SCSI or an
ATAPI version.
If you want to go a little higher in price, there's the DDS-2 drives
from HP, Aiwa and Seagate. All of these are around $800, offer the same
capacity as the NS-8 drives, but media costs 1/2 as much and logical
block motion is much faster.
