...once again my standard reply:
As for kernel 2.2.x: You need a more recent
ersion of ftape. Please upgrade to one
of the unstable drivers - you'll find them at
http://www.math1.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-4.x/unstable/
Don't mind "unstable" - they are quite reliable.
