You will NEVER successfully run a Max drive on a 486 ANY-Mhz under
Linux.  Especially on a DX-2 66! In fact, it's highly likely that the
Max won't run succcessfully 100% of the time on less than a 166MHz
Pentium.

I know - I did the original code for the Max.

C'mon Folks - you can get a real tape drive for less that $200 now
(Seagate TR-4 ATAPI 4/8GB) - why do we keep playing with this nightmare
of a tape drive? Even Iomega finally dropped it.
