Don't believe WinXX, it lies.

Ok, I assume that your Ditto Max is connected to an accelerator
board (most likely ditto EZ) and it's Plug & Play board. Then
after booting Linux you can not rely on the board having the same
parameters as under WinXX. The may be completely undefined. You
should use the isapnp tools to set the correct parameters. Then
you know exactly how to configure ftape.

If your accelerator board is configured using jumpers you should
check the jumpers and use the values found there.

These values are not valid at run time. Don't know why, look
above.
