After re-installing ftape (not having used it for quite a while :( ) and trying to check an old backup by first issueing a 'mt status' I got the output Script started on Sun Jul 18 22:44:33 1999 drive type = 8388942 drive status = 2283621 sense key error = 6943 residue count = 0 file number = 0 block number = 0 gstat = 41000000 Trying to read the tape (using bru) I got the message it is an empty tape. Yet I remember making and checking the tape as a proper backup, and also a MS-Win program reads the tape as containg an 80 Mb archive. As far as I remember, the mt status command also gave a description of the contents of a tape, but not having used it for quite a while, I cannot exactly remember. Does this mt status look all right to you, and if not, might my instal- lation of the program be the case? Any other diagnoses I can make? Thank you ---- Julien Michielsen [EMAIL PROTECTED]
