Firstly, thanks to those that replied to my earlier posting.

I grabbed the 4.03-pre-4 release as suggested compiled and installed but still
no go.  The messages I get are as follows;

kernel: installing QIC-117 floppy tape hardware drive ...
kernel: ftape_init @ 0xc485d21c.
kernel: zftape for ftape v4.03-pre-4 06/30/99

modprobe: no dependency information for module:
"/lib/modules/2.2.5-15/misc/ftape-internal.o"

This is what I added to /etc/conf.modules, though I am not sure it is
correct. I have an Exabyte Accelerated FDC.

alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx
alias eth0 smc-ultra
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias char-major-27 zftape
options ftape ft_fdc_driver=ftape-internal,none,none,none
options ftape-internal ft_fdc_base=0x370 ft_fdc_irq=6 ft_fdc_dma=2
pre-install ftape-internal /usr/local/bin/swapout 32

Any help appreciated.
