Angel,
under kernels 2.2.x you need the most recent drivers, that is those
unstable ones, which are in fact rather stable. You can find them under
http://www.math1.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-4.x/unstable/
You won't find an rpm, so have to
- unpack the source
- edit MCONFIG and change it according to your needs
- make
- make install

A tape drive cannot be mounted. You have to "treat" it by using ftmt and tar,
e. g.
ftmt -f /dev/qft0 status
ftmt is included in the ftape-tools package, that can be found at
Claus' web site as well.

Well, seems correct to me, but I am not familiar with trakker drives;
As far as the parport stuff is concerned: We talked about this
some days ago - your parport_pc settings presumably work; if not, feel free to
kick out (unload) all of the parport modules before trying to load
the ftape modules.
I must admit I don't know if you should add a line containing trakker options.
Good luck, Juergen.
