Check your setting for the floppy controller under Windows.  Probably
0x3f0, IRQ 6, and DMA 2.  When you insmod the ftape-internal.o modules
(you ARE running the latest version of the drivers and not the kernel
version, right?), force the setting with "ft_fdc_base=0x3f0 ft_fdc_irq=6
ft_fdc_dma=2."
