Hi List,
I've got a problem and so far the web and IRC havn't
been any help. Here is what is happening, I'm running Redhat 5.0 with an
adaptex 2940. I had an exabyte 8505 plugged in and aside from dirty
heads it worked ok. Yesterday I have to power down and replace the 8mm
with a Digital Tlz04 4mm brought it back up killed my dev files for st4
as both drives are scsi id4 then re did Makedev,it created the files, all
seemed ok. But it wasn't, when I tried to rewind with mt I got the error
"device not configured" I checked /proc/scsi/scsi and it showed the 4mm
everything seemed ok. Assuming the drive had problems I powered down and
put my 8mm back on when I came back up I did the same thing as
before, killed /dev/st4 then re did Makedev, and again I got "device not
configured" when I tried to use MT or cat /dev/st4. I then trired
another 8mm and a Digital tkz60(ibm 3480) and both also gave "device not
configured" any ideas whats going on? obviously I have rebooted serveral
times, scsi tape support is is my kernel(I am assuming since I used my
8mm fine the first time, and since proc/scsi sees it) Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
thanks
