ebcdic tapes

Hey guys,thanks fr the response, I figured dd out on my own but I have
another problem, I cant get linux based tar to read the IBM EBCDIC
tapes, I have a feeling its the block size,but I'm not sue,the tapes are
from an IBM 3480 drive,I know a 3490 uses 32k blocks but when I tried -b
64 it didnt work. Is there something else I need to do?
