Thank you for that suggestion. I checked /proc/modules and was surprised
to see that only ftape was loaded. Once I did an "insmod zftape.o" I got
some stuff to happen. Still trying to make something useful happen though.

I'll look into trying tab. I tried the ftape-tool without much luck.

Yes, it seems like we have gotten much farther. I will give tab a try as
well as some of the other suggestions and let you know how it turns out.
