I tried the unstable versions as well and I got the same problems. I am
using 2.2.5-22 though.

I started getting activity after the insmod ftape and insmod zftape were
properly completed. Is there some file that I can place those in so that
they will be loaded on boot, rather than throwing a bunch of insmod's in
the rc.local?
