FTAPE - External Parallel port TD.

I have studied all of the HOWTO, etc I can find but do not see how to enable
a Colorado Trakker 250 going.
I assume at this point it is an option line for the conf.modules...
I have Red Hat 6.0.  mt and tar both say device does not exist, but
/dev/rfto and /dev/ftape do exist.

Any help where I may turn next would be appreciated.
