I am trying to find some old data on a stack of tapes laying around at my
place of employment. I have never messed with ftape(or any tape drives for
that matter) and i am having a hard time getting the drive to work. I have
compiled ftape into the kernel(2.2.12). I can figure out how to get the
data off the tapes but i am running into the problem of device not being
found. I have tried to access it through the symlink /dev/ftape ( which is
going to /dev/rft0) with no luck. I tried /dev/rft0 through /dev/rft3 as
well. The drive is a Colorado 1400. The tape drive is the only device on
the FDC( to elminate floppy drive conflicts and the like). I have looked
through the howto and i am either blind or the solution to my problem is
not in there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
