Hello.

I am trying to compile ftape 3.04d on a Linux system with the following
configuration:
Arch: i586 (Pentium 166)
RAM: 80 MB
Original Distribution: Redhat 6.0
Kernel: 2.2.12 (latest stable)
gcc version: 2.95.1 (latest stable)
glibc: I believe I'm using 2.1.1 (libc6). I'm not sure if I really have libc5
or not. I supposedly do.

make generates some errors when trying to compile fdc-io.c. Additionally, none
of the .o files in the documentation (ftape.o, zft-compressor.o, and zftape.o)
are generated even though there is plenty of other stuff in the directories.

I have attached a script of the entire session, including cating out the
MCONFIG file so you can see what I'm talking about. I've done this several
times with the same results. (I've also tried compiling 4.03pre2 with pretty
much the same results. I have an external tape drive, so that's why I'm trying
these versions.)

If anybody out there knows what I can do to get this working, I would greatly
appreciate it.

Thanks for your help.

-Scot
