Because of the recent interest in ftape/Ditto Max, I thought I would
share my problem to see if anyone has seen/solved my particular issue.

The "unstable" versions compile and install fine. I can even install the
modules succesfully (at least they appear to be installed successfully
according to lsmod and the system log). However, when I try any utility
(mt, tar, etc.) that accesses the drive, the machine locks up and
completely dies. I can't even log in remotely. Upon a harsh reboot (with
file system check), the system logs indicate that immediately prior to
the offense, the message

Nov 10 19:59:30 prandtl kernel: [095] bpck-fdc.c
(bpck_fdc_interrupt) - BUG: Already connected.

gets printed about 300 times (polling?). I am stumped.
