I am trying again to get my External Ditto Tape Drive working, and have
downloaded  ftape-4.03-pre-2.tar.gz from the home of ftape at

http://www.math1.rwth-aachen.de/%7Eheine/ftape/

When I  try to <MAKE> , I am getting the following errors :-

I tried to continue, with <make install> and the result was that I got the 
same  messages about ~
