Michael,

I've left the details out, but that looks like a bad drive.  The error
that you are seeing can occur when the sensor switch is stuck in the "WP"
position.  This is a factory repair item.

Now, if you're able to use the device under Windows (I forget ....), you
may wish to play around with your IRQ, DMA, and I/O Port settings.  With
my Iomega and Seagate TR-3 drives, I set the accellerator card to
IO=0x370, IRQ=6, and DMA=2.  The DMA and IRQ are shared with the onboard
floppy controller.  This works every time I've used it (even in old slow
systems).
