Ok I did that then did a make mrproper,config,dep and bzImage and made a kernel
without ftape support. I then compiled the new ftape but as soon as I have
modded the insert script in the modules subdir insmod complains about
unresolved links. At this point I gave up and went home in tears as it was
Christmas eve. At this point we are going to toss out the old tape drives and
install two new ide units (Seagate stt28000a's)
