Of course the version in the 2.2 kernels is 3.04d, not 4.02. 4.02
won't compile in a 2.2 kernel.  Almost once a day there is a message
about this posted to this mailing list.  2.2 kernels require the
"unstable" version (which really is stable).  The current version is
ftape-4.x-1999_09_11.tar.gz.

As far as I can tell, 3.04d compiled into my kernel is working just
fine.  It's the %@$&# Ditto Easy 3200 Insider that is giving me fits.
