Yes, yes, I understand there is a problem with ftape and the 2.2.x
kernels and that you have to use an "unstable" version of ftape. The
LinuxTapeCert site is great for that, and my "ftape" package has now
nicely compiled.

But what about the ftape-tool package? I get compile errors with
rtapelib.c and mt.c. I don't believe I'm alone. I 'm using
ftape-tools-1999_09_11.tar.gz

Is there a later version of that somewhere, too?
