A search at http://www.exabyte.com shows no such tape drive. There is,
however, an 8205/8505 tape drive (quite obsolete). This tape drive may (I
repeat MAY) require you to use the 'mt setdensity' command to enable
compression under Linux.
Another common problem is block size. You may need to detirmine what block
size the Sun box uses to write to tape, then use 'mt setblk' to set Linux's
block size to the same block size. I have encountered this problem before when
transporting data between Unix and Linux, and it is quite irritating.
A close read of the man page for 'mt' is probably in order here. Fiddle with
the densities and block sizes, I suspect a little study of the Exabyte manual
and the Sun manual will find which ones are correct.
